Tuesday night I finally finished “Lost”. When it came out years ago I had seen half an episode of escape and it hadn’t hit me very much. When I saw it on Netflix and since it has become a classic and many of my friends told me it was a phenomenal series, I decided to see all six seasons.
“Lost” is a television series is an American television series created by J. J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof and Jeffrey Lieber and produced by ABC, Bad Robot Productions and Grass Skirt Productions aired from 2004 to 2010.
This TV series tells of the Oceanic 815 plane crash, flying from Sydney to Los Angeles. The plane crashes on an island. The survivors are 48. Initially, only those sitting in the central part of the plane seem to have survived, deciding to camp on the beach. Then survivors of the queue are also found. The castaways immediately hope for help that never seems to arrive.
The island is also inhabited by other people, the “Others”, who have been there for much longer. The island in the past had also been the subject of a scientific project called DHARMA, precisely because of a series of magnetic phenomena that characterize it.
On the island there are also polar bears and a black cloud, which captures people, called by the characters “The Smoke Monster”.
Summarizing here in just a few lines what happens in six seasons would be arduous and boring, what I can say that after all the series I liked it even if in the middle of the fifth the interest fell a lot. The series contains several references, mainly philosophical. Just think of the character of John Locke.
The end
As for the ending, I was a bit perplexed. Throughout the last series we see a series of clips of another reality that I initially thought was future, but in the end we understand that in truth it is an idealized reality that the same characters invented to meet after death, as if to emphasize that death and their division is inevitable. Only some actually manage to return home while others remain on the island and after Jake’s death, we don’t really know if those left on the island will remain there. The final therefore does not seem to be a final, but a momentary point.
